We are delighted to see that in 2019 the LDWA 100 mile challenge event is coming to the North Pennines. The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty really is a hidden gem, often overlooked in favour of the better known neighbouring National Parks. Without exception though, once people discover us they come back! We would love to encourage Hadrian Hundred participants, and those travelling to the event with them, to extend their stay in the area, whether that be for the marshalls’ event or the main event. Some of our accommodation providers have got together to offer special rates.
Why Stay on Alston Moor?
In the heart of the North Pennines , Alston and its neighbouring villages of Nenthead and Garrigill (which together make up Alston Moor) are ideal bases for a walking holiday. With five major, but quiet, roads radiating out, it makes a wide area accessible for day walks. The perfect destination for an extended stay around the Hadrian Hundred, and it’s just 30 minutes drive from Hexham. We’re an accredited ‘Walkers Are Welcome’ town, and all of the accommodation providers participating in this offer are geared up to welcome walkers.
Our official visitor website is www.visitalston.com, and you can follow us on Facebook at Visit Alston Moor. Our Walkers Are Welcome website has a fantastic array of information for walkers www.walkalstonmoor.com, and we’re on Facebook at Walkers are Welcome Alston Moor.
